A short  Story about the  Southeast Lions

The Springfield Southeast Lions Club was chartered in 1956. The Club consists of 48 Springfield business and  professional men vitally interested in the community's well being. Over the past 25 years this Horse Show has provided close to $78,000 to the activities that the Southeast Lions Club supports. The following is a partial list of some of those projects that have benefited from past Horse Show proceeds:

The Original Charter of the Southeast Lions Club was burned in a fire at Tommy Lafono Restaurant ,now The Mexican Villa 1408 S. National ,during the time of construction of a new dinning room to be used for the Clubs weekly meeting. (Tommy was a member of the Southeast Lions club at the time of loss.)

The Springfield Lions Club purchased the second bus for the Cerebral Palsy Center . this one with a mechanized lift.

The Southeast Lions Club has sponsored Cerebral Palsy Family Picnic for the past 20 years.

The Southeast Lions Club has sponsored the Cerebral Palsy Family Christmas Party for the past 21 years.

The Southeast Lions Club has sponsored over 45 scholarships to the Cerebral Palsy Center.

In the past two years the Southeast Lions Club has spent over $1,000 on brochures and printing for the Cerebral Palsy Center.

The Southeast Lions Club has also been a major contributor to the building fund of the Cerebral Palsy Center.

The Southeast Lions Club has donated more money to the Eye Tissue Bank in Columbia, Missouri in the past than any other Lions Club in the world.

The above information was printed in the 25 th Silver Anniversary Program booklet of The Heart of America Jubilee Horse Show. Dated Sept. 14, 1984
