The one-time application fee for  membership is $25 and semiannual dues of $35 include a subscription to the International   Lions publication, The Lion, as well as the state news letter, Missouri Lion.

A message from membership Chairman Lion Hubert Morris

Report on a meeting of the Southeast Springfield Lions Membership Committee on Tuesday, July 22, 2008.

Present: Larry Evans, Ruth Gardner, Jim Ragain, Dennis Washam and Hubert Morris, committee chairman

1.    Regarding visitors:

      a.    When a person visits our Lions Club meeting at the invitation of one of our members, our
              member pays for their lunch.
      b.   On the second visit to our club meeting by the visitor, our club pays for the lunch.

2.  Regarding prizes given for our members who bring new members into the club:

     a.  Our members are eligible to win a cash prize of $35 at the end of a designated two-month
period if they bring the most new members into the club by the end of the two months,
provided they have brought at least two new members into the club  .
     b.  We propose that the three periods of two-months each shall be September-October,
          January-February, and April-May.
     c. When a club member brings a new member into the club, our club member's meal is
provided on the day the new member is publicly received.

3.  The committee requests that our club program chairman occasionally introduce to the club a
person who is the recipient of a cornea transplant or a seeing-eye dog, etc.

4.  The committee requests our club secretary to provide for the committee a list of former
members of the club or inactive members, so that they may be invited to renew their
     membership in the club.

5.  The committee wishes to highlight for the club some "selling points" for us to consider when
inviting prospective members to join the club
.a. Becoming a member \ of Southeast Springfield Lions Club provides a means for newcomers
to Springfield to get "connected" with the members of our club and to become better informed
members of our community by hearing our  guest speakers.

     b.  It provides a means to unite with others in what may be the greatest service club in America
and collectively raise funds that help the blind and deaf receive sight and hearing. Helen Keller
calls the members of Lions Clubs her "knights of the blind."

6.  If the executive board of our club approves the committee's recommendations, are
there steps that the executive board would like to see the committee take to initiate the
    membership drive in September-October?
